Civil/Structural Project Engineer with active Florida P.E. license

to conduct forensic investigations of commercial, institutional, high-rise and residential buildings.  Position is available in our Orlando (Maitland) office.

Typical engineering assignments include determining the cause of structural failures, construction defects, water/moisture intrusion, roof damages, flooring damages, foundation/settlement, and more.

Additional projects include storm damage assessments, sinkhole investigations, fire damage and structural integrity evaluations, and providing professional opinions and expert witness testimony.

Duties:

  • Determine the cause and origin of structural failures and construction defects.

  • Conduct field inspections to document onsite conditions.

  • Conduct roof damage evaluations for residential and commercial structures.

  • Conduct moisture/water intrusion damage evaluations.

  • Prepare and provide oral and written reports.

  • May be called upon for expert witness testimony.

  • 50/50 field work and office duties

 Requirements:

  • BSCE

  • 8+ years experience

  • Florida P.E. license (ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT)

  • NCEES (Preferred)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of building materials, residential and commercial construction, and building codes

  • Geotechnical experience and expertise a bonus!

Geotechnical/Civil Project Engineer with active Florida P.E. license

to conduct forensic investigations of commercial, institutional, high-rise and residential buildings.  Projects include performing site investigations to determine the origin and cause of sinkholes, and assessing the physical damage to residential and commercial structures.

Duties:

  • Perform sinkhole evaluations to determine sinkhole activity and if damage to structure has been caused by sinkhole.

  • Supervise geotech driller and advising of procedure to ensure proper collection of soil data.

  • Supervise GPR process and analyze results.

  • Supervise lab testing of soil samples to achieve the required data for reporting.

  • Determine the cause and origin of structural failures and construction defects.

  • Conduct field inspections to document onsite conditions.

  • Conduct roof damage evaluations for residential and commercial structures.

  • Conduct moisture/water intrusion damage evaluations.

  • Prepare and provide oral and written reports.

  • May be called upon for expert witness testimony.

  • Day travel frequently to Polk, Pasco, Hillsborough and Hernando counties.

 Requirements:

  • BSCE

  • 10+ years experience

  • Florida P.E. license (ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of geotechnical testing techniques

  • Technical expertise in the determination of soil properties and groundwater evaluations.

Electrical Engineers with Texas and/or Florida P.E. license

to conduct forensic electrical investigations of commercial, institutional, and residential buildings, electrical fire investigations, and electronic equipment failure analysis.

The candidate must have a thorough understanding and knowledge of HVAC and water heater electrical and mechanical systems (residential, commercial, industrial), electronic equipment, lightning strike damage and power surges, electrical fire origin and cause investigations, and NFPA 921 guidelines concerning fire investigation techniques.

Those candidates who have experience with product liability analysis, electrocution, high voltage failure analysis, residential and industrial electronics equipment evaluations, and identifying subrogation potential will be given top consideration.

Preferred candidates are familiar in dealing with attorneys, insurance claims professionals, and corporate liability and risk management personnel.  Expert witness testimony experience is a plus!

  • Preferred candidates have P.E. licenses in multiple states

  • C.F.E.I. fire/explosion investigation certificate

  • Registered Electrical Contractor license

Mechanical Engineers (P.E.)

to conduct engineering evaluations of failed consumer and industrial products, analysis of equipment and machinery design, and evaluations of industrial safety and accident and deliver expert witness testimony in deposition and trial.
Preferred candidates will have experience with HVAC (residential, commercial and industrial), mechanical failure analysis, and product liability analysis. Someone with MEP design, contracting and facility operations experience is a plus. P.E. license in Texas and/or Florida is absolute requirement.  Facilities operations experience is preferred.
If ACTAR certified, additional assignments may include performing reconstruction of vehicle collision accidents.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • BSME

  • 10+ years of professional experience

  • P.E. license in Texas and/or Florida (required)

  • ACTAR certified (preferred)

  • Familiarity and experience with all types of HVAC, water heater, boiler and machinery

  • Familiarity with accident failures and accidents

Accident Reconstructionist

to determine the origin and cause of accidents, primarily involving vehicles and vehicular-type equipment. This includes scene photography, interviewing witnesses, evidence/data gathering, report preparation, and testifying in related depositions or trials. Requires an Engineering Degree in Mechanics and/or 10+ years of related experience. Must presently hold a ACTAR and/or PE certifications as well as a PI license. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience a plus.
